Rihanna may testify against Brown

Singer Rihanna will appear at a hearing next month as a possible witness in the assault case against ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, her lawyer has said.

Donald Etra said prosecutors will order the star to appear at the 22 June hearing, which will assess if there is enough evidence to go to trial.

The 20-year-old was charged with assault and making criminal threats in March after a row with his girlfriend.

The pop star has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

"Rihanna has always agreed to do whatever the law requires her to do," Etra said.

"She is totally willing to testify if called to do so."

Defence hinge

The hearing will mark Rihanna's first appearance in court since charges were filed following the February incident.

If she is called to testify, the 21-year-old would be subject to cross-examination by Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos.

Meanwhile, a judge on Thursday rejected a motion by Geragos to receive police and investigative records related to the case, and the apparent leak of a photo of a beaten and bruised Rihanna.

The lawyer revealed last month that his defence would hinge on the impropriety of the Los Angeles police force, which he says purposely leaked the image to gossip website TMZ.

But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg called the motion "a fishing expedition" and told Geragos the request was premature and he could file it again after the preliminary hearing.

Geragos said he still plans on filing a motion to dismiss the case, but said he will do so only after the initial court hearing.

Brown faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

Winehouse pulls out of label gig

Pop star Amy Winehouse has cancelled her appearance at a concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Island Records music label.

The event, scheduled to take place next Sunday at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire, has now been cancelled completely, her management has said.

"Amy would like to apologise to her fans who bought tickets for the shows," a statement added.

Refunds will be available at the same place tickets where were purchased.

"Amy Winehouse's management has regretfully announced that Amy and her band will no longer be performing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire," the statement said.

Jamaican act Toots and The Maytals and I Blame Coco had also been lined up to perform.

Earlier this month Winehouse was forced to abandon a concert in St Lucia because of poor weather conditions.

However, members of the audience criticised her performance after she appeared to forget the words to a song halfway through and told the audience she was "bored".

Island Records is best known for bringing Bob Marley, Roxy Music and U2 to the world's attention.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, a month-long exhibition, Island Life, has opened in London.

Jay-Z parts with Def Jam Records

US rapper Jay-Z has confirmed that he has parted ways with Def Jam, the record label where he once served as chief executive officer.

The 39-year-old told RapRadar.com that he was now "a completely independent artist" after buying out the remainder of his contract.

The star thanked the label's executives and called his time at Def Jam a "unique and fulfilling experience".

During his time at Def Jam he signed artists including Rihanna and Ne Yo.

He remained with the label after stepping down as CEO last year and struck a deal worth a reported $150m (£95m) with concert giant Live Nation, that includes touring, publishing and albums for the next decade.

"Working with Doug Morris and LA Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience and I respect them immensely," he said.

"Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique 'negotiations' ever.

"I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music," he added.

Jay-Z has since created a new record label and has been working on a new album, Blueprint 3, with Kanye West since 2008.

Canned Heat is a blues-rock/boogie band that formed in Los Angeles in 1965. The group has been noted for its own interpretations of blues material as well as for efforts to promote the interest in this type of music and its original artists. It was launched by two blues enthusiasts, Alan Wilson and Bob Hite, who took the name from Tommy Johnson's 1928 "Canned Heat Blues", a song about an alcoholic who had desperately turned to drinking Sterno, generically called "canned heat". Dubstep: Rusko - Jahova

I am really busy today, but I want to show you a genre which is called Dubstep. "Dubstep is a genre of electronic music that has its roots in London's early 2000s UK garage scene. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood and emphasis on bass. Dubstep tracks are generally produced at a tempo of around 140 beats per minute and in recent years have developed signature half-time rhythms, often heavily shuffled or syncopated, and usually, though not exclusively, including only one snare drum hit per bar, often on the third beat. Such factors make dubstep rhythms markedly different from generic, four-to-the-floor rhythms used in other styles of electronic dance music such as house music, which usually have two snare hits accompanying the second and fourth kick drum. Often, the sense of rhythm in dubstep is propelled more by the bassline than by the percussive content."

Michael Jackson is not suffering from skin cancer

MICHAEL JACKSON has denied reports that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer.

His spokesman, Dr Tohme Tohme said claims that the King of Pop had the disease were "not true".

A story published in the Sun newspaper on Saturday, said that spots of skin cancer had been found on the star's upper body, along with pre-cancerous cells on his face

According to the tabloid's anonymous source, Jackson was "at first very concerned, but says he has been assured by the doctors that they can treat this and he will recover".

But Dr Tohme Tohme told the New York Daily News today: "He is great. He is in perfect health...he doesn't have any diseases whatsoever."

Mims - Guilt

Mims released his new album "Guilt" last month. The following review will be in German:

Mims ist einer der Künstler, der in den USA als Topkandidat für den Titel als Superstar, wie ihn heutzutage Jay-Z oder Kanye West tragen, gilt. Mit seinem neuen Album „Guilt“ versucht Mims diesem Titel erneut einen Schritt näher zu kommen und an den Erfolg der Single „This Is Why I'm Hot“ anzuknüpfen. Allerdings sind auf dieser Scheibe nicht einmal eine handvoll Tracks die so simpel gestrickt sind wie sein ehemaliger Hit. Mims überzeugt auf diesem Album mit nachdenklichen und langsamen Songs, die manchmal eher R'n'B und Hip-Hop sind als reiner Rap. „Guilt“ hat einen poppigen Flavour, der mit zumeist gesungenen Refrains und langsam gerappten Strophen definitiv für die Charts geeignet ist. Für diese Refrains hat sich Mims die Sänger Letoya, Ky-Mani Marley, KVN, J. Holiday und Soler Mesh auf sein Album geholt. Am auffälligsten ist aber der Rapper Tech N9ne der einen Part in dem Track „Rock 'N' Rollin'“ übernimmt und hier für den besten Part des Albums sorgt. Der Altmeister Tech N9ne, der auch gerade sein neues Album „Sickology 101“ veröffentlicht, flowt um einiges besser als der Jungstar Mims.
Insgesamt ist das Album gelungen aber nicht der Durchbruch auf den man bei Mims noch wartet. Ich bezweifele, dass einer der Tracks so wie „This Is Why I'm Hot“ auf dem ersten Platz der US-Charts landen wird. Dennoch bin ich mir sicher, dass das Album ein verdienter Erfolg und eines der besten Alben des noch jungen Jahres wird. Besonders die Tracks „Move (If You Wanna)“ und „Rock 'N' Rollin'“ stechen hervor und begeistern den Hörer. Der Song „Chasing Sunshine“ klingt nach einem Song, der im Radio gespielt werden könnte. Dieses Album ist einen Kauf definitiv wert!

First of all just convince yourself and watch the following video. I really hate the guy who is in it, but he shows how Auto-Tune can work, if you use it the right way. After this little demonstration I will explain everything more detailed.



I will explain how you can autotune your voice just like for example T-Pain, Cher or Daft Punk. All you need is a VST you can autotune things with. For instance you could buy Antare Auto-Tune or you can simply use G-Snap, which is for free. If you want to purchase Antares software, you can find further instructions on this webpage! Otherwise you download G-Snap, install it and integrate it in Cubase, Fruity Loops, Adobe Auditon or whatever you use.
To get the T-Pain Voice Effect you need to set up G-Snap like this:

Hello everyone reading this first entry of my new blog! I will list videos, links and all stuff, concerning the music that I like. Mainly I listen to Rap, but I am also into Rock and all in all I like many kinds of music. I am from Germany and as a consequenz there will be some grammatical problems in my sentences. Anyways, I hope you can enjoy reading my Blog!

I will also publish articles that are written in German from time to time, but essentially I will write in English.
